Ferrari has released information about the upcoming Ferrari California convertible. The V-8 powered sports car will be officially unveiled at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show. Earlier, first images of the car had leaked onto the internet. Now, Ferrari has revealed details of the new California via a press release.
The new car will be called the California T and for the first time, the 3.8-liter V8 will have two turbochargers bolted to it. The engine is built from the ground up at Ferrari’s Maranello factory and promises to deliver "exhilarating" performance, despite the addition of a turbine.
The California has been the base Ferrari and with the added horsepower and improved performance, the California T seems all set to re-write history with a more fuel efficient engine and blistering performance.
On the outside, the new California T gets a revised exterior design. The lines are much more cleaner this time than on the old California. The 2+2 layout has been carried over. While the front sports subtle tweaks with new headlights, bumper and grille element, the rear is more like the old model. The interior too has been reworked upon for a more sportier and fresh look.
The front mounted V-8 puts out 552 horsepower, up from 483 horsepower from a 4.3-liter naturally aspirated V-8. The front-mid engine- rear-wheel drive hard-top convertible seems to have moved up a notch thanks to the addition of a couple of turbochargers. This being a grand touring car, the California rides a bit soft compared to the rest of the Ferrari sports car range.
